Shantaram

Mr. Roberts at the book signing in Stockholm.
When Gregory David Roberts visited Stockholm to promote his novel Shantaram, I went to listen and pick up a copy. Short factoid about Gregory David Roberts:
Sentenced to prison for armed robbery with a toy gun and a heroin addiction, Roberts escapes from the maximum security prison after being tortured and beaten on a daily basis. He ends up in the Bombay slum setting up a clinic, but also becomes a forgeror, black market dealer, smuggler and finally works for the mafia, is forced to war and, again, ends up in prison being brutally tortured. He writes down his story in close to 1000 pages, and it becomes a best seller. The man himself, i must say after meeting him, was a true original.

Kom ihåg att jag vill låna boken efter dig!
Dear Mr. Roberts,
I read your book...Shantaram...and I found it really amazing. Before reading this book I could never even imagine that any mortal could live through such major ordeals...let alone write about them! It was trully an odessey!
I am grateful to you that you made me discover a new India within the slums and villages...which I could have never known even though I myself am an Indian.
Thanks
Sarbani
I have stress related brain disfunction, so it is hard to imagine you survived what you did with enough brain power to write it down so clearly.
Dr. Roberts (just a friendly pun; you know, I grew up with the Beatles...)
About destiny and bending it, I remember an Indian saying which, more or less, goes like this: "Do you want to make Bhagwan laugh ? Tell him about your plans."
Can you reconcile this with what you say?
Personally, I believe that everything in life is destiny. And we cannot change destiny; but even if we could change destiny, that would be destiny too.
Sounds like Catch 22, does it?
Alldabest mate & ta for your great book.
